SEAGULLS COMPLETE PRE-SEASON WITH YEOVIL FRIENDLY

Weston complete their pre-season fixture schedule as Yeovil Town visit The Optima Stadium this Saturday, July 30th, in a 3pm kick-off.

The Glovers head north up through Somerset having finished twelfth in last season’s National League.

They have a new man at the helm in Chris Hargreaves, who has also had spells in charge of Torquay United and the Bristol Rovers Academy. Hargreaves took over from Darren Sarll, who left the Huish Park hotseat for Woking.

Reuben Reid is set to appear against the side he has just departed from. Reid scored some important goals for The Glovers last season, before his move to BS24.

In their last friendlies of this pre-season, Weston were defeated 2-1 at Slimbridge, while Yeovil had to settle for a 0-0 draw at Dorchester Town.

As well as this season, Weston and Yeovil faced each other in a friendly seven days before the last league campaign started. The spoils were shared in a 1-1 draw that day. Dayle Grubb had given The Seagulls the lead but Tom Knowles equalised in the 80th minute.

With both sides kicking off their league seasons next Saturday, a competitive affair is likely as both sets of players look to seal their places in their respective starting line-ups.

We will be operating three turnstiles for this fixture.
Turnstiles 1 & 2 will be located at our main turnstile block next to the club shop.

Turnstile 3 will be located on the opposite side of the ground by our 3G surface.

Turnstiles 1 & 2 will operate on a card/pre-bought ticket only basis.

Turnstile 3 will operate on a cash only basis.

Please note the entrance for walking football & academy members is now via the main turnstiles.
Those eligible members will be admitted entrance as per your team agreement.

Academy parents, you will need to be with the academy member at the time of entering.

Your entrance for pre-season games will be via the main turnstiles.
* Please note for pre-season games, you will be required to pay full price, unless you have pre-bought your tickets online ahead of the game using your season ticket holders discount.

CAR PARK:

Our supporters’ car park charges £2.00 to park on a match day.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept card payment for this. Please ensure you have £2.00 available to pay on arrival.

For season ticket holders, early arrival is recommended. Your car park will still be for your use, when full you will be given free parking in the supporters’ car park where possible. Please ensure you have your season ticket car park pass ready for inspection.

FACILITIES WITHIN GROUND:

Please note our Sportsman Bar will close 90 minutes prior to kick-off, at which time the turnstiles will be open, and access can be made into the ground.  Our Somerset Suite bar, Supporters’ Kitchen and inside ground Joe’s Bar will all be open.

Card payment can be made at all three locations.
At busy times, such as half-time, we will be placing stewards in these locations to assist supporters queueing.

CLUB SHOP:

The club shop within the Optima Stadium will be open for all Weston-super-Mare AFC first team games.

PLAYER TUNNEL GATES:

We may close these, for the players’ entry to the pitch and return from the pitch during their pre-match warm-up, there may be a slightly longer period before the game where these will have to remain closed.

We do apologise in advance for this. The stewards will open them as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.
