Fresh from winning the league and cup double, Weston-s-Mare AFC’s Under 18s will return for preseason on July 27, looking to emulate recent success. Over the last three seasons the young Seagulls have collected four trophies and passed on the likes of Jake Llewellyn, Bradley Ash, Syd Camper, George King and Will Sneddon-Coombes into the first-team squad.
The promotion of youth players into the first-team squad is central to the clubs long term plans. Director of football, Ryan Northmore said “Weston-super-Mare AFC represents its community in the National League South proudly. We are a club built from grassroots up and we are prospering using the best local talent.”
Northmore will continue to lead the first-team squad next season and maintain his role in the academy, gelling the two together. The Under 18s have experienced plenty of success and they continue to go from strength to strength. For the coming season they have teamed up with Churchill Academy to offer an exciting opportunity to post 16 students looking to develop a career on the pitch and in coaching.
The new partnership brings a fantastic opportunity for school leavers to study on a BTEC Sport and/or A Levels while developing their playing a coaching skills with Weston AFC.
Northmore said “We have blended together playing, coaching and studying to maximise opportunities for students finishing their GCSEs and looking to progress onto a programme that leads to employment or university. We have a proven track record and we want to take what we have to the next level.”
Places in the Under 18 squad are limited, but if you are interested in this opportunity please contact email@example.com or call 01934 621618 for more details.
