Bartlett Anticipates His First Somerset Derby
Tuesday night sees Scott Bartlett take part in his first Somerset Derby when Weston welcome Bath City to the Woodspring Stadium in the Somerset Premier Cup Quarter Finals.
After the league game was postponed on 4th February, Bartlett and his players have had to wait two weeks for the first Somerset Derby of 2017 to roll around. With Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Welling United, the Seagulls will be raring to go, with winger Dayle Grubb looking set to further add to the four home goals already this calendar year.
Bath City are on a high at the moment following their 4-1 victory against an of out-of-form playoff contenders St.Albans on Saturday. They also currently have former Weston loanee Shawn McCoulsky in their ranks (until the start of March) and Weston won’t want to be seeing their hero from the start of the season be celebrating against them come Tuesday night.
The last time these sides met in August was at Weston’s first away game of the season. Backed by a decent number of travelling supporters, Weston saw McCoulsky score twice. The second half saw Bath try to up pressure with Marvin Morgan nodding one home, however Bath were unable to equalise following some superb defending and excellent work in between the sticks from Luke Purnell.
