BARTLETT ISSUES RALLYING CALL TO WSM FANS

Scott Bartlett has called on Weston-super-Mare AFC fans to come and see the next generation of WsM players in action against Banwell this Saturday.

Scott said:

I am very much looking forward to the Banwell friendly and fun day and I hope as many people come to the game as possible to support our young players.

“In addition to the game, our senior players will be training so there is an opportunity for them to meet our supporters before the game.

“One or two senior players will feature in the match but the majority of the team will be made up of our talented youngsters who we hope will force themselves into the squad and team as the season progresses.”

WsM have always been committed to working with young players and Mark McKeever is doing a good job with the academy.

The club has had success in the past in bringing through some of our very best players in Brad Ash, Luke Purnell and of course Dayle Grubb. We have also provided a platform to senior football for the likes of Lloyd Humphries, Rollin Meneyese, Aden Baldwin, Ollie Watkins, Ryan Harley, Jack Compton and many more.

Scott continued:

I believe with the experienced players we have in our squad, there has never been a better time or environment for a young player to develop.”

Another academy player pushing for the first team is 17 year old Ryan Jones. Bartlett said:

Ryan was excellent in training last week and followed that up with an eye catching performance as a second half sub on Saturday. He has good ability and a fantastic attitude and is in our thoughts.”
