CHANGE UP FOR WESTON WOMEN’S MANAGEMENT TEAM
- A License coach Mike Washington becomes Head Coach
- Tom Golding steps in as Assistant Head Coach
- Stacie Morrissey retains position as Manager
In the middle of a difficult season, Weston Women have refined their management setup.
‘A Licence’ coach Mike Washington, who recently returned to his home in Weston from Walla Walla, Washington, will become the new Head Coach.
Mike has worked with a whole array of teams and players, female and male, including USA Women internationals. He has also headed up the soccer academy at Whitman College for numerous years.
Current Manager Stacie Morrissey will work closely with Washington whilst spending more of her time overseeing the club wide Women’s setup. She has ambitions to create a girls academy in the coming seasons.
Tom Golding has also joined the team to help assist the new head coach. He has plans to take up his coaching badges in the near future as he assists the team during this transitional period.
When asked about these changes, Stacie said:
Myself and the squad are extremely excited that Mike and Tom have joined the team.
I couldn’t be happier to welcome these experienced coaches to help the team progress as they deserve.
Mike said:
I am excited about the opportunity to help Stacie and Weston Women develop a solid program moving forward.
The vision of the club to develop a stronger base with the development of younger players is something I have had the opportunity to do since arriving in the USA with both Olympic Development and College programs recruiting players and building athletes to compete at the next level.
Tom said:
There truly is some talented individuals and players within the club who I’m looking forward to working with.
Having worked professionally building high performance teams before, I’m looking forward to applying my experience to the Women’s team.
Jamie Fisher has been a trainee coach with the team for the past two seasons and Goalkeeper coach this season and will remain in his position.
