Weston College and Weston-super-Mare AFC are delighted to announce their affiliated partnership for the 2017/18 season. Both organisations have a long history of working together in the development of young learners that take up, develop and progress through the game.
The new affiliated partnership will not only allow learners to access academic programmes of study but also offer player development and pathways to play for and represent both college and club.
Joel Parker, Academy Manager, outlined, “It is an exciting time to be in education and football, as the developments ahead for both college and club are visionary and will only strengthen the game in the local area, moving forward especially as the college looks to introduce Higher Education programmes in the future”
The club and college will be mutually supporting each other by sharing facilities and resources, which again will benefit the player development and first team provision. The college have heavily invested in Hudl analysis to help support and develop player pathway as well as progression to first team football.
As the college continues to recruit new learners a positive impact on the opportunities for young male and female players in the area will continue to emerge benefiting the longevity of the club. Both club and college already engage in so many aspects of our community and the affiliation to the community is a very important one.
Weston Football Club Managing Director, Oli Bliss, added “I am very excited to be working with the college again and how an affiliation and partnership will develop the infrastructure of football in the area for many years to come”
