COMMUNITY PAY WHAT YOU WANT DAY ANNOUNCED – RAISING MONEY FOR WESTON HOSPICECARE
We’re excited to announce our ‘Community Pay What You Want Day’, taking place on Monday 28th August 2023 against Hemel Hempstead Town, with all match day entry profits being donated to Weston Hospicecare.
Entry prices will be reduced from normal to only a £2.00 minimum donation to the Club for non-season ticket holders, making it a bargain to enter The Optima Stadium.
Upon entry, fans will be asked to complete a quick Q&A which will automatically enter them into a competition where one lucky winner is granted a free season ticket for the 2024/25 campaign.
All profits from match day entry will be donated to Weston Hospicecare:
We deliver expert care from our base, Jackson-Barstow House where there is a 10 bedroom inpatient unit (IPU), along with a day and wellbeing centre.
To complement our in-house services, we have a team of community nurse specialists who care for patients, and their families, in their homes in Weston-super-Mare, and the surrounding area.
We cover Clevedon and Yatton to the North; Cheddar, Wedmore and Axbridge to the East; and Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge to the South and everywhere contained within these boundaries.
Our multi-disciplined team deliver treatment for not only patients with cancer but those with other conditions such as motor neurone disease, Parkinson’s disease and all other life-limiting illnesses.
To provide the best possible care, we work in tandem with each other and with other clinicians such as GPs, consultants and other medical professionals to ensure the patient is kept comfortable and informed about their condition while their families are supported for as long as they need to.
While our clinical team is outstanding at delivering emotional care, we also have a specially-trained team of experts who form the Family Support Team. The team’s purpose is to provide world-class social, emotional and spiritual support for both patients and their families too.
This care is tailored to each person involved and it can be delivered in the comfort of the patient’s home or on-site at Jackson-Barstow House.
Every person in our care is seen as the special person they are. We always ask ourselves “Would this be good enough for a member of our own families?” We constantly do everything we can to make our patients happy. We’ve hosted weddings, arranged for pets to visit and fulfilled many more last wishes.
Niel Bassom, Club Secretary & Operations Manager, said:
Having not hosted a Community Open Day since 2018, I am very pleased to be able to be part of announcing the return of the Weston-super-Mare AFC Community Pay What You Want Day. This is scheduled for our Vanarama National League South fixture against Hemel Hempstead Town.
“We are linking up for this with Weston Hospicecare, which will ensure much needed funds can be raised for such a worthwhile cause.
“The day will enable us to provide our local community and fanbase the opportunity to watch Vanarama National League South football for just a donation of your choice, minimum of £2.00.
“We look forward to welcoming many new as well as familiar faces to The Optima Stadium on Monday 28th August”.
Julian Hall, Weston Hospicecare’s Director of Fundraising and Communications, said:
Weston Hospicecare are delighted to be supported in the Community Pay What You Want Day at Weston-super-Mare AFC. All the profits from the match will go towards the care provided to those living with life-limiting illnesses in the local community.
“Thank you to everyone at the club for helping to arrange this event, your continued support for Weston Hospicecare is vital if patients and families are to get the help they so desperately need.”
The full matchday experience will be on hand in what will be a day to remember with competitively priced food and drink, music, a 50/50 half-time draw and even a giant Seagull to keep the kids entertained – as well as the football of course!
The initiative is a way for us at the Club to thank our fans for their loyalty, bring in new faces to The Optima Stadium hopefully for more than just the one-off occasion, and raise as much money as possible for Weston Hospicecare.
All fans are asked to enter The Optima Stadium via the Somerset Suite room located at the front of the stadium instead of the usual turnstiles.
The club car park is also in full use (located adjacent to the stadium) making it simple to come down and enjoy the day. Season ticket holders will still have exclusive use of the season ticket holder’s car park.
So why not treat yourself to a day out with friends and family and join us at the Optima?
Terms & Conditions:
Entry on the day will be via the club function room, the Somerset Suite, only. Please note, DO NOT use the turnstiles.
Upon entry, you will be requested to complete a brief Q&A. Completion of the Q&A will grant you automatic entry into our competition where one lucky fan could WIN a FREE season ticket for the 2024/25 season!
