Jon Haile Football Development Director said,
Weston U18s won their opening league game away to Radstock Town 1-3 with an excellent performance and then progressed again in the FA Youth Cup away to Ashton & Backwell 0-3. The reward for this is an away game against Forest Green Rovers in the next round, a tough draw indeed. The number of scouts now attending our matches is increasing, with requests for trials for our players from the likes of Southampton, Manchester United, Fulham, Bristol City and Derby County, underlining the talent we have here at the Woodspring Stadium. Of course we want to produce players for Weston-super-Mare AFC, but would never stand in the way of a player signing for a football league club. Hopefully, the word is getting out there that the Academy at Weston is the best place for young players to train and play in order to progress as young players”
