WESTON HEAD TO FARNBOROUGH IN AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY CLASH
Weston are back in Vanarama National League South action as they visit Farnborough this Saturday, 26th August. The match kicks off at 3pm.
Despite the defeat against Slough Town last Saturday, it’s been a positive start to the season for Scott Bartlett’s side in their first season back at Step 2 after opening the new campaign with three victories.
For Farnborough, it is their second season back in this division after winning the Southern League Premier South play-offs in 2021/22. Last year, the Hampshire side finished 12th in the National League South. So far this season, manager Spencer Day has led his side to one win, two draws and one defeat from their four games. In their most recent game last Saturday, they drew 1-1 at Dartford after a last-minute equaliser from the penalty spot from Alfie Pavey.
With both Weston and Farnborough enjoying recent promotion success, it isn’t long since the last meeting between the two sides. The game at Cherrywood Road finished in a 1-1 draw after regular goalscorer Marlon Jackson equalised in the second-half. Earlier that season at the Optima Stadium, it finished in a 2-2 draw.
Another closely-fought encounter is on the cards this Saturday, as The Seagulls now embark on a busy August Bank Holiday schedule.
