Blackfield & Langley v Weston super Mare

Blackfield & Langley 2 - 1 Weston super Mare
15 Oct 2019 - 19:45Gang Warily Recreation Ground

A second-half brace from Lerone Plummer knocked the Seagulls back as James Waite’s opening goal wasn’t enough in a 2-1 defeat.

Owen Howe had the first opening of the game, a ball rolling through to him but he couldn’t connect with the shot on his weaker left foot and it rolled into the arms of Lewis Noice. James Waite cut inside but dragged a shot from 18 yards into the arms of Noice, and Aaron Parsons nodded a corner from George Dowling wide.

Weston took the breakthrough nine minutes before half-time when Waite’s diagonal ball out wide towards Jake Mawford was inch-perfect. The defender swung a cross in after getting a sight of the box and the ball was straight onto Howe’s head at the back post, who knocked down for the oncoming Waite who tapped in from six yards to make it 1-0.

After the interval, Blackfield came out the blocks sharply and equalised when a shot from Sam Griffin was pushed away by Luke Purnell but the electric Plummer was straight onto it. Given time inside the box, the forward slotted into the net from a tight angle to level the scores.

Blackfield had a chance through Griffin, but he found himself crowded out as he attempted to get a shot away, before Howe had a shot from 18 yards blocked at the other end.

Blackfield got their late winner though when a cross to the back post was nodded back across goal and Plummer glanced in from a few yards with his head past Purnell to give Blackfield & Langley a vital three points.

Weston pushed forward late on to try and find a winner, however Tindle’s shot was straight into the arms of Noice as he had a volley at goal from a corner in the final action of the game.
