Chippenham Town v Weston-super-Mare AFC

Chippenham Town 0 - 1 Weston-super-Mare AFC
05 Mar 2024 - 19:45The Thornbury Surfacing Stadium

A sole Rex Mannings goal five minutes before half-time saw the Seagulls return to North Somerset with three points after a 1-0 win at Chippenham Town.

Lloyd Humphries fired wide from 30 yards in the game’s first attack of intent following Weston winning the ball back well, before Mannings had a low shot from 18 yards held by Will Henry. Caine Bradbury then dragged a shot past the far post from 20 yards down the other end as the Bluebirds looked to stamp ther authority on the game. Luke Spokes then volleyed wide from the edge of the area following a headed clearance.

The game’s only goal was to come through a good Weston move, skipper Dayle Grubb bringing the ball down 25 yards out and managing to play a pass in behind for Mannings. Just managing to beat Henry to the ball, the winger’s outstretched foot on the slide managed to help the ball into the net for his ninth goal of the season.

In the second period, Chippenham had the half’s first efforts on goal when Luke Haines drove over from 25 yards, and Tom Owen-Evans headed over the crossbar when attacking a Haines delivery from the right. Bluebirds substitute Ed Williams then dragged a shot from 18 yards into the arms of Harris.

As the clock ticked over into injury time, Aaron Amadi-Holloway headed over a Spokes free-kick while down the other end, Humphries curled wide of the target from just inside the area.
