The Seagulls played out an entertaining 0-0 draw away at Swindon Supermarine in an even contest.

Sam Turl’s long throw into the box was glanced on by Leon Morrison for Harry Williams, but his header dropped short of the target and Luke Purnell could gather. Down the other end, Elis Watts’ volley at the back post from a Scott Laird cross hit the side-netting and Watts went close again when his shot from just inside the box was deflected and held at the near post by Josh Gould.

Brad Hooper fired over the crossbar from 25 yards after a Williams chest-down, before Jordan Bastin’s deflected cross-shot down the other end clipped the base of the post and rolled behind for a corner after being found by Noah Coppin on the overlap. Watts then fired wide of the near post from 25 yards after turning on a Coppin pass and evading the attention of Supermarine skipper Mat Liddiard.

In the second half, Morrison’s header back across goal at the back post from a corner narrowly evaded Williams and former Seagull Will Tunnicliff from tapping in. Watts had an effort blocked by the arm of keeper Gould after he had pushed away a Laird cross to the No.10, while Coppin fired into the side-netting after beating Morrison for skill down the right.

A James Dodd free-kick from 25 yards was held comfortably by Gould, before captain for the day Reuben Reid curled over from the edge of the box. A Laird free-kick was curled over the bar as Weston kept knocking on the door, while down the other end Purnell made a great stop to deny Williams on the half-turn from 12 yards after he had brought down a Henry Spalding cross.

Laird went the closest for Weston on the overlap as his shot from Bastin’s pass toward the near post was tipped onto the woodwork by Gould, before Reid volleyed wide on his left foot from 12 yards after substitute Marlon Jackson had headed a long Jason Pope pass down into his path in the final attack of the game.
