Goals from James Waite and Brad Ash led to Weston beating Taunton Town 2-1 away from home in difficult conditions.
Taunton had the first chance when Zac Smith dragged a shot into the arms of Luke Purnell, before a dipping drive from Scott Laird fizzed just past the post for Weston. Ash had an early opportunity, but his chip from a tight angle drifted harmlessly wide.
Chris Knowles met a Laird free-kick at the near post, but the ball bounced off his shoulder and behind for a goal-kick. Ash fired over from inside the area after turning on a Harper pass, and Waite dragged an effort at goal from 18 yards, which Irish claimed comfortably.
After the interval, Weston broke the deadlock when Waite played a quick one-two with Ash that released the former into the area. Getting the ball on to his left foot, he fired in to put the visitors ahead.
Ben Adelsbury drove wide from inside the area after Matt Wright had knocked down a Ryan Brett free-kick, and Laird had a free-kick routine deflected just wide down the other end.
From the resultant corner, Taunton got themselves level when they broke with pace and Luke Purnell brought down Andrew Neal inside the area. Neal dusted himself off and calmly dispatched the kick from 12 yards to restore parity.
Irish made a cracking save as he tipped aside a free-kick from Laird, before Weston retook the lead.
A ball inside found Waite, whose first touch took him past the covering Taunton defenders. Unselfishly, he looked up and squared for Ash, who slotted in to an open net to put the visitors ahead.
Adelsbury saw a looping free-kick from 35 yards caught comfortably by Purnell, and substitute Owen Windsor had a toe-poke from six yards deflected wide as Taunton threw men forward, but the Seagulls held out to take the three points and end Taunton’s unbeaten 13 games unbeaten at home.
