Truro City v Weston super Mare

Truro City 4 - 0 Weston super Mare
15 Dec 2018 - 15:00Treyew Road

Weston bowed out of the FA Trophy to Truro City, back playing at Treyew Road, as Weston’s heaviest defeat of the season was inflicted by the Cornish side.

Truro had a chance inside the first minute when a free-kick dropped to Jared Lewington, but his shot was straight at Purnell. Tom Llewellyn had an early chance too when the ball dropped to him from a corner, and his 18-yard volley dropped narrowly wide of the goal.

Llewellyn had another chance moments later when a George Nurse cross landed right on the 17 year-old’s foot, but his drilled volley was deflected wide off the foot of Marlon Jackson in front of goal.

Truro got their first goal when Dan Rooney was played into space. He escaped the attentions of Jacob Cane and turned away from Louis McGrory before bending his effort into the corner from the edge of the area.

Truro got their second a few minutes later when Rooney slid through Tyler Harvey, who got away from Matt Bower and the Truro forward could slide the ball into the corner to double Truro’s advantage.

Minutes before half-time, Niall Thompson was fouled by Cane inside the area. Up stepped Harvey, and his effort towards the bottom corner was tipped onto the post by Purnell and out for a corner.

After the interval, Truro got their third just after the hour when a ball into the box was flicked back towards his own goal by Bower, and Harvey was left unmarked at the back post to volley into the top corner.

Jennison Myrie-Williams fired wide after the ball had been laid off to him by Jackson, before Truro got their final goal of the game.

Dan Rooney stormed forwards toward the Weston defence, and he fired past Purnell’s despairing dive to seal the win.
