Truro City v Weston-super-Mare

Truro City 0 - 0 Weston-super-Mare
14 Sep 2022 - 19:45Bolitho Park

A 0-0 draw away to Truro City saw Weston maintain their unbeaten start to the 2022-2023 campaign.

Scott Laird had the game’s first real attempt when he found himself in space just inside the Truro box, but his effort was caught comfortably by James Hamon in the Truro goal. Ben Adelsbury’s speculative effort from the halfway line dropped onto the top of Luke Purnell’s goal, while Jacob Jagger-Cane sliced a shot wide of the target from outside the area after a loose ball dropped his way. Jordan Bastin had the half’s final attempt when cutting inside, but his effort was straight at Hamon who gathered comfortably.

In the second half, Dan Sullivan had a shot blocked after he was found by Oliver Haste, before Andrew Neal had a shot at the near post kept out by Luke Purnell after Kyle Egan had found the lively forward in space. Sullivan then fired over the bar after an Egan cross dropped to him following Weston attempts to scramble it away at the back post.

With the game nearing an end, Hamon managed to palm a shot from Dayle Grubb behind for a corner, and from the resulting set-piece, Sam Avery glanced a header past the post despite Weston appeals for a corner.

With both sides fighting for all three points, the defences won out in the end as both sides kept things tight at the back to see out the 0-0 draw and maintain their unbeaten starts to the season.
