A double from Mike Symons against his former club Hereford FC saw the Seagulls overcome their visitors 2-0.
Symons was the first to have an attempt on goal, but he couldn’t steer a header from a Ryan Jones corner on target. Straight from the goal kick, Hereford managed to play through the Seagulls to a Trialist striker, but he dragged his effort wide of Luke Purnell’s far post. Nick McCootie had the next chance for Weston after controlling a drilled Jacob Jagger-Cane pass, and the striker’s powerful shot from long range was held by Paul White.
Weston took the lead just past the half-hour mark when Scott Laird played a free-kick short to Jones. He managed to nutmeg Jared Hodgkiss before beating another Hereford defender. The left-back’s low cross found Symons, who turned in from close range to break the deadlock.
Weston continued in the ascendency, Chris Knowles having a powerful header from a Jones corner beaten away by White. Jagger-Cane fired over from 25 yards after a corner was laid back into his path by Sam Avery, before Dayle Grubb had a free-kick from a similar distance curl just past the post.
The start of the second half was a subdued affair until Symons found the net again. Grubb beat his man and pulled the ball across to Symons from the by-line. The seasoned striker got the ball out of his feet and stabbed in from six yards to double the lead against his former club.
Symons went close to a third but had a volley from inside the area blocked, before one of Hereford’s substitute Trialists had a header caught by Purnell.
The Seagulls comfortably saw the game out as their pre-season campaign came to an end.
