Last night, the Seagulls lost 1-4 at home against Kingstonian in the FA Cup Third Qualifying Round Replay.
Weston were the first to go closest when a drilled Connor Davies cross was headed towards his own goal by Jerry Puemo. Kingstonian keeper Rob Tolfrey reacted sharply, tipping the ball over the bar for a corner.
Kingstonian took the lead from their own corner when the ball was cleared and then swung back in by Kenny Beaney. Seagulls skipper Greg Tindle headed clear but only as far as Fabio Saraiva, who drilled a volley into the top corner to break the deadlock.
Not long after though, and Weston were level. Isaac Pearce was tripped by Ghassimu Sow as the small winger hared towards the box from out wide, and stood over the dead ball from an angle was George Dowling. Dowling took aim and drilled his free-kick round the wall and across goal into the far corner for his first goal in a Weston shirt.
It didn’t take long for Kingstonian to retake the lead though when a corner in from Beaney found Puemo at the near post, who powered a header into the back of the net to put his side one goal to the good.
After the interval, Weston went close when a corner in from Dowling was flicked towards goal and the ball bounced off the top of Tolfrey’s bar before being cleared away.
Kingstonian made it three though when a Dan Bennett pass was collected by Reece Hall, who drove forward and into the box despite the attention of Jake Mawford, and Hall fired across Luke Purnell and into the corner for 1-3.
Kingstonian went close again when a Hall volley from a Beaney corner was bravely blocked by a Weston man, before Louie Theophanous saw his attempt go just wide after Dan Hector had played him in.
Kingstonian put the icing on the cake though when substitute Youssef Bamba slid in Theophanous, and the dangerous marksman finished past Purnell from inside the area to set up a clash with Dartford in the Fouth Qualifying Round.
