Bastin had the game’s first shot when Reuben Reid knocked down a long Lloyd Humphries pass for the winger, whose first-time curling shot from 18 yards was tipped behind by Adam Parkes. Dayle Grubb had a shot from 25 yards held by the visiting keeper, before Harrison King’s curling cross-shot dropped wide of the target down the other end.

Grubb had a curling free-kick from 25 yards held comfortably by Parkes in the Parkway goal, before Scott Laird fired over from 25 yards after Jacob Jagger Cane had won the ball to stop a visiting counter. Weston came closest when Reid laid the ball off to Bastin, who got past a couple of away challenges inside the area before his low effrt struck the base of the post and bounced away.

Reid fired over from an angle on the left after cutting inside, before Jack Crago drove over Max Harris’ goal from 18 yards after being fed by Rio Garside down the other end. In the final action of the first half, Grubb curled a 25-yard free-kick from a central position after James Dodd had been brought down from behind.

In the second half, the Seagulls came close to breaking the deadlock whe Bastin fed Jackson into the box, and the striker’s first-time shot bounced off of the post and away from goal. Jason Pope had a shot from 25 yards on his left deflect wide for a corner, before Crago’s header from a Mikey Williams corner hit the top of the bar and went behind.

Reid fired over from just inside the area from Jackson’s flicked pass through, before Jackson curled wide on his left foot from 18 yards after feinting past his man.

The Seagulls were to break the deadlock 14 minutes from time when Grubb’s free-kick from out wide was glanced on by Laird off a Parkway defender, and Bastin was in the right place at the right time to poke his shot in from six yards.

Grubb had an effort from 18 yards pushed round the post by Parkes, before the skipper went close twice but for a great double save by Parkes. His first shot was pushed away by Parkes, and the rebound was latched upon by the captain six yards out yet Parkes was up sharply to stop the attempt. Dayle went close in added-on time again, his shot from 20 yards just wide of the target as Weston held on for another three points.
