The visitors headed back to Dorset with the win after the Seagulls had taken the lead early on, Weston eventually falling to a 5-1 loss.
Lloyd Humphries went close early on when Jay Murray darted into the box and his pull-back found the Welshman 12 yards out, whose strike hit the post and bounced clear. Tom Bearwish had a header from Luke Nippard’s cross comfortably saved by Luke Purnell, before Tom Blair darted inside and had a low effort pushed away by the Weston No.1.
The Seagulls took the lead when Marlon Jackson turned on the edge of the box and found Jordan Bastin on the outside of him. Bastin’s first-time low cross into the centre was met by the sliding Jackson, with the slightest touch off his studs being enough to roll the ball toward goal via a deflection and creep over the line past Weymouth’s trialist keeper for 1-0.
Weymouth were only behind for three minutes when Tom Blair’s right-wing cross evaded everyone and bounced off of the post, hitting Dan Matsuzaka as he closed in which allowed the defender to bundle over the line from a couple of yards out.
Keelan O’Connell forced Purnell into a save from a Blair knock-down, before Harry Kyprianou nodded a Blair free-kick onto the crossbar before the Seagulls could clear.
A second for the visitors came when Trialist #11 for Weymouth shifted onto his right foot and saw his shot pushed away by Purnell, but Blair was allowed time and space to hammer the strike into the top corner on the rebound from inside the area.
A third wasn’t to be too far behind, and Blair was once again the instigator when his cross toward the back post found Bearwish, who had the simple task of poking in on the volley to make the score 3-1 to the visitors.
Humphries again had a chance for the Seagulls when he was found on the edge of the area by James Dodd, but the midfielder’s curling strike toward the top corner struck the post and bounced away from danger.
The second half was largely a midfield battle, with Scott Laird having the only real opportunity from a Seagulls corner routine but his strike towards the trialist’s near post was easily gathered.
The Terras earned a penalty when Keiran Thomas was penalised for bringing down O’Connell inside the area, and former Seagulls player Brad Ash stepped up to the spot, confidently slotting his penalty low down to Purnell’s left-hand side for 4-1.
Weymouth completed the scoring when their trialist #11 got the ball on the left-hand side of Weston’s box and curled a stunning strike past the rooted Purnell into the bottom far corner, leaving him with no chance of saving to round off a good day’s work for Weymouth.
