A James Waite hat-trick as well as goals from Sam Hendy and Ryan Jones saw Weston beat Wimborne Town 5-0 at The Optima Stadium.
Visiting keeper Cameron Plain had to be quick to try and prevent Mike Symons from latching onto a loose ball inside the area, before Sam Avery blocked a Sam Bayston effort down the effort. Chris Knowles rose highest to meet a Waite corner but nodded straight into the arms of Plain.
Weston made the breakthrough however when Nick McCootie fired a low cross into the area. Sam Hendy brought the ball down and he drove a low cross into the six-yard area where Waite poked in from a couple of yards.
The hosts quickly made it two when Dan Martin and Isaac Pearce played a smart one-two down the left leaving Martin to charge forward. His pass inside was deflected towards goal and Hendy burst in to react first and poke an attempt over the advancing Plain to double his side’s advantage.
Plain held a low Waite drive before Pearce fired into the side netting.
Weston were enjoying the one-way traffic and they quickly made it a third when Pearce jinked his way into the box and was brought down by Fatah Makhloufi from behind. With Scott Laird suspended, Waite took on the honours from the spot and he confidently sent Plain the wrong way for his second of the game.
Avery was in the way of another Bayston attempt down the other end, and Purnell held a Luke Burbidge effort in the last action of the first half.
In the second half, Tony Lee fired wide before he had an effort held comfortably by Purnell.
It took a while for Weston to find their goalscoring touch again but they did so with just under 20 minutes to go. Pearce drove forward and he attempted to roll a ball through for Symons. However, the pass was intercepted but fell kindly for Waite, who took the opportunity on and slotted past Plain to complete his hat-trick.
Pearce went close as his strike hit the outside of the post from a tight angle and a deflected Curtis Young shot was straight into Purnell’s arms.
There was still time for Weston to get a fifth in added time when Martin recieved the ball on the left and beat his man with the first touch before squaring the ball across the face of goal for substitute Jones, who rolled in from a yard out to score his first league goal for the Seagulls.
