Hungerford Town come out on top against the Seagulls
The game finished 0-1 to the visitors, pushing Weston down to 17th in the Vanarama National League South after 11 games.
Weston asserted their dominance early in the first half, winning a number of corners within the opening 10 minutes with Bradley Ash coming very close to scoring on his first start for the club since his return on loan from Barnsley, he wriggled through the opposition’s defence but the goalkeeper pounced before he was able to get a shot off.
The teams went in at half time with the score at 0-0, however Weston were undoubtedly the stronger of the two sides in those first 45 minutes of play.
The match was slightly more even in the second half and the warning signs were there for Weston, with Hungerford having a goal disallowed from a set piece due to one of their players climbing Jason Pope’s back to head into the back of the net.
Weston then had a golden chance, Elliot Richards muscled his way through 3 defenders to come face to face with the keeper, however he was unfortunate to slip at the crucial moment and his tame, poked effort was easily cleared off the line by a covering defender.
The deadlock was finally broken by the visitors, seeing Nat Jarvis prod the ball in after a corner wasn’t cleared properly.
Despite Kington and Ash coming close late on, the final score was 0-1 to Hungerford Town.
The Seagulls’ next match is away to North Leigh on Saturday 17th of September.
