GAME PREVIEW: WELLING UTD v SEAGULLS

Ryan Northmore has been given a massive boost ahead of the first Saturday away match of the season, with international clearance coming through for Eliot Richards.

However, one of the most consistent performers of the last season, Jacob Cane, is still sidelined with a groin strain sustained against Whitehawk so will miss the second consecutive match in a row.

Recently relegated from the Vanarama National League, Welling have come down with aspirations of going straight back up but currently sit in a lowly 19th place after two games played.

With the Seagulls having hit top gear from the first whistle this season having gained six points from a maximum of six, momentum will surely be with the side as striker Shawn McCoulsky will look to add to his three goals scored already this season, as well as Eliot Richards wanting to grab his first competitive goal on Saturday.

When asked about Saturday’s fixture, Ryan commented “The opening two fixtures have demanded different qualities and we have stepped up to the challenge. Whitehawk were more technical and we needed to play a solid tactical game whereas Bath was more physical and we needed to show a strong mentality to maintain a lead. Both performances were very pleasing for different reasons and we must be at our best again at Welling”.

On Eliot Richards, Ryan also stated “I am pleased that Eliot is now available for selection following the International Clearance process. So that’s the only change to the 17-man squad from Tuesday”.

Available Squad: Barnes, Dowling, Fortune, Grubb, Ingram, Kington, Mawford, McClennan, McCoulsky, Meechan, Mullings, Pope, Powell, Purnell, Richards, Simpson, Williams.
