Weston-super-Mare AFC are delighted to announce that Lloyd Humphries has agreed a new contract with the club after putting in some sterling performances at the start of the 2022-2023 campaign.
The Welshman has started in all seven of the club’s competitive fixtures so far this season as he has adapted to a new position of centre-half within the side.
On Lloyd’s new contract, Manager Scott Bartlett said:
In 2016, I tried to get Lloyd on loan. Neil Warnock tested him and asked the young lads at Cardiff who wanted to go on loan, thankfully Lloyd put his hand up and it was a done deal.
“His performances for us that season earned himself a new deal and apart for injuries, would be a Cardiff or Football League regular at least.
“There has always been a contract offer at WsM for Lloyd but we have such a strong relationship, it was never really needed either way.
“In the summer, we had enquiries for Lloyd from National League Prem clubs, who to be honest didn’t go about things in the right way but still we put that to him and it didn’t materialise. We left our offer open to Lloyd and are delighted he has signed until the end of next season with us.
“Like all of our players, we will never stand in the way of progression if it’s right for the player and we have proved that many times in the past but this gives us and Lloyd some added security.
“Lloydy is a firm fans’ favourite and rightly so, he’s stepped into a different role so far this season and has been as outstanding as he is in midfield and are delighted to have him”.
“I’m really happy to have signed this new contract now to keep me at the club for the next couple of years.
“We’ve had a great start to the season and hopefully we can carry this on now throughout this season and fingers crossed, next season”.
We are delighted that Lloyd has agreed a new contract with the club.
