JEFF STELLING GETS OFF TO A GREAT START

This morning saw over 35 walkers accompany Jeff Stelling on the second leg of his walk, from the Woodspring Stadium to Bristol Rovers via Bristol City at Ashton gate. The day started with Social Manager Ann Sheppard getting to the Club at 5am to prepare breakfasts for walkers so they could fuel up for the long walk ahead. Vicki joined Ann at 6am as did Richard Sloane, club secretary, to liaise with the organisers.

The organisation was superb with 20 members of the Prostate Cancer Charity team making sure that everything was going to plan – which it was. After registration the walkers had a great breakfast followed by a team talk in the east stand by the route organiser and team physiotherapist. This was followed by a pep talk from Jeff himself on the route and good instructions to the team. Richard Sloane welcomed the whole group and said what a great opportunity it was for the Club to lend their support to such a good cause. They then set off at 8am down Winterstoke Road and up the A370. There was a possibility of shortening the route slightly but at the time of writing its uncertain how the route will unfold.
This was day 2 of the marathon which has a further 13 days to go.
