JOHNSON DUO FACEOFF FOR PRESEASON OPENER AT THE WOODSPRING

Weston-super-Mare A.F.C are delighted to announce that the Woodspring Stadium will be hosting Bristol City vs Cheltenham Town for a preseason match.

This game has been dubbed the ‘Johnson Derby’ as Lee Johnson manages Bristol City while father, Gary Johnson, manages Cheltenham Town. Each season the father and son’s respective sides play each other before the start of the regulation season, and it’s an honour to host this event at the Woodspring Stadium. Last season the game was played at Cheltenham Town’s home ground, Whaddon Road, and the score was 0-3.

This will be both club’s first preseason match, and we’re extremely excited to showcase some of each sides’ most prestigious talents.

Richard Sloane, Club Secretary for Weston-super-Mare A.F.C, said “When Bristol City approached us to host this full first team match, we were delighted. They see Weston-super-Mare A.F.C as an ideal club to place their young players for development. We have excellent relations with both clubs and long may that continue. Last season we had a number of loan players from Bristol City notably Ash Harper, Harvey Smith and Aden Baldwin”.

The game will be played on Tuesday 10th July, kick off time will be 7:30 and ticket prices for the game are: £12 for adults, £8 for concessions (60+) and £3 for kids under the age of 16.

We thank you, as always, for your continued support and we’re excited to begin preseason here at the Woodspring.
