MIKE LEE APPOINTED FIRST TEAM MATCHDAY AND FIXTURE SECRETARY

Weston-super-Mare AFC are delighted to announce that Mike Lee has joined the Club as First Team Matchday and Fixture Secretary, with Niel Bassom remaining in his role as Club Secretary.

Mike will take on all the first team fixture and matchday secretarial duties as we return to the National League South.

When asked about joining the Club, Mike said:

I have been involved in the local sports scene since I started playing football at 11 years old for Westland Pumas, which is where the current ground is located.

“I have spent 22 years working at BT in a number of management positions and I hope to be able to bring some of those skills into this role at the football club.

“I have spent the last 2 seasons watching from behind the goal and when I was asked to help the club, I had no hesitation in accepting, especially when I took into consideration the exciting plans the club has over the coming years.”

Alongside Mike taking on the First Team Matchday and Fixture Secretary role, Niel Bassom will continue in his role of Club Secretary.

Both will work closely alongside each other, with Niel handling the regulatory and mandatory matters such as compliance, registrations and contracts.

Niel commented:

I am delighted to welcome someone to the club such as Mike with a proven management background.

“As we continue to grow both on and off the field, like many clubs at this level and higher we are now going to be splitting down duties which will allow me to continue to retain a role within the club but also enjoy a healthy work/life balance.

“I will be offering Mike any support he requires while he finds his feet so people will still see me around on matchdays, and behind the scenes.

“The splitting of the secretary role also benefits the Operations Manager role I hold at the club.”

Managing Director Oli Bliss said:

I have known Mike for many years through different sports and I am very happy that he is joining our team. He is going to be a valuable addition off the pitch.

“We are now all set for the new season which we are all looking forward to”.
