SCOTT LEAVES THE SEAGULLS

It is with regret that we have to announce that Scott Bartlett will not be able to continue as our 1st team Manager.

Due to having to take on a full time role at Forest Green Rovers he will not be able to commit the time that he gave the team last season.

Oli Bliss Managing Director said despite this the Club is in a very strong position with such a talented squad. We will be working on recruiting the right replacement for the Club over the next couple of weeks ready for pre season training on the 1st July.

We wish Scott all the best in the future and thank him for his short but successful spell with Weston football club.

Scott said ‘It is with a heavy heart that I have to make the decision to leave Weston-super-Mare AFC after a brilliant and enjoyable year last season.

I am incredibly proud to have managed a wonderful club with an excellent and supportive board and although it feels like I am leaving too early, together we have achieved so much.

I enjoyed an excellent rapport with the fans and will always be fond of the Seagull Army. You were a major factor in our survival last season, particularly the way you took to me and my staff after the changes we made in October and I am indebted to you for that.

The fact is, that to continue to take Weston forward as I would like I would have to give up my day job. My role as Academy Manager at Forest Green Rovers, now in the Football League, has changed considerably meaning it isn’t possible to do both roles to the best of my ability and that is something I am not comfortable with.

My decision to step aside has not been easy. I am leaving behind an incredibly talented squad and a fantastic group of men with lots of potential. One thing I demanded from them was a hundred per cent unreserved commitment to the cause and they gave us that in abundance – unfortunately I can’t guarantee the same.

I leave with some regret because I think we could have coached this group into play-off contenders within two years, but I leave the club in a good place, National League South football has been secured as has the futures of some of the leagues best players. A 3G training ground has been approved and will be in place shortly as will other developments to improve the club.

I’d like to publicly thank all of the players, the Board and everyone associated with the club and especially my staff. Thanks again for your support, I hope you understand my position

Its a great club and I am sure Weston will find someone to take the team and club forward, I wish everyone the very best in the future.
