SCOTT ROGERS APPOINTED ASSISTANT MANAGER
Weston-super-Mare AFC are delighted to announce the appointment of Scott Rogers as Assistant Manager.
Scott is well regarded and joins us after four years as manager and joint-manager at Tiverton Town FC, where he won 62 games in 145 games and saw the side score 263 goals along the way.
After a long and established career which saw him play for Tiverton Town, Forest Green Rovers, Weston, Bath City, Newport County, Weymouth, Chippenham, Taunton Town and Willand Rovers, Scott started a career in management with the latter before returning to Tiverton Town where he formed a management duo with experienced uncle, Martyn Rogers.
Scott will take Tiverton Town’s game tomorrow against Truro City before joining our management team and squad on Tuesday.
On his new assistant manager, Manager Scott Bartlett said:
Scotty is a brilliant addition to our club. I have known him since we were about 18, our careers pretty much mirrored each others and we became friends through football.
“I admire the job he has done at Tiverton, his enthusiasm for the game and his passion and honesty made him an ideal candidate to come into WsM.
“We are in a good place, with a settled squad, some new board members, a pending stadium re-development, a growing fanbase and something to prove in the National League.
“Maybe we will have to punch above our weight a bit at time, and myself and Scott are ideal to lead that challenge.
“As I explained at the fans’ forum, a good person was the key component, our environment is excellent, we have brilliant staff, it’s professional and demanding but player care led.
“I have had two excellent assistants in Chris Barker and Lairdy as well as brilliant senior players. Scott can come in with good experience and some fresh ideas as we approach the start of an exciting season.
“I have to say that Tiverton were first class in handling this situation and as well as welcoming Scott to the club, we wish them all the best for their season”.
Scott Rogers said:
First and foremost, thanks to Tiverton Town FC for giving me the chance to go and speak to Scott about the opportunity once contacted earlier this week.
“I’ve obviously seen from afar the strides Weston have made over the last 4-5 years coinciding with the increase in the crowds and promotion to the National League South.
“It’s an opportunity that I feel at this stage of my career too good to turn down, I was part of the Newport County side that won this league before so I’m looking forward to being involved in it again and working with Scott to try and have a successful season in what will be a very competitive, exciting league”.
Everyone at Weston-super-Mare AFC would like to welcome Scott to the club and wish him all the best in his new role.
