SEAGULLS FACE BRIMSCOMBE & THRUPP IN FIRST FRIENDLY
The Seagulls will journey to Gloucestershire side Brimscombe & Thrupp in the first friendly of the 2018-2019 season. Boss Marc McGregor will see this as an opportunity to experiment with his Weston side, and to test a few trialists.
Jamie Lucas and Ben Swallow will get a chance to run out with their new team-mates after signing this summer, whereas familiar faces including skipper Jacob Cane, Luke Purnell, Gethyn Hill and Jarrad Welch all return for the new season having penned new deals.
Brimscombe & Thrupp play in the Hellenic League Premier Division and are managed by Sam Prior. Last season, the side won the Gloucestershire Challenge Trophy, beating Bitton 3-1 in the final.
When asked about the fixture, Marc McGregor said
It’s great to be back and playing. Wednesday’s game against B&T will be a tough game as they play FGR in a similar fixture, which is great and will be good to see how our lads fare. We have a big squad currently and we will be looking to see who can make us a better side for the campaign this season
The admission prices for the friendly are: Adults £5, Concessions £3 and U16s are free. KO 04 Wed – 19:45.
