SEAGULLS FACE DRAGONS IN EMIRATES FA CUP FIRST ROUND

This Sunday, Weston host National League leaders Wrexham in the Emirates FA Cup First Round, with the Seagulls looking to progress on to the next round.

Having started to gain some welcomed points in the league, Weston will look to keep their momentum ticking over in England’s oldest cup competition. To get to the first round, Weston beat Salisbury with a 2 – 3 win in the second qualifying round replay after a 2 – 2 draw first time around, before an injury time Eli Phipps tap-in put Weston through in the Third Qualifying Round over Coggeshall. In the Fourth Qualifying Round, a 1 – 0 win over local rivals Bath City put the Seagulls in their current position.

Wrexham are managed by former Premier League footballer Sam Ricketts, who turned out for Wolverhampton Wanderers and Hull City in the top flight. To get to this stage, Wrexham knocked out Harrogate Town in the last round, a 0 – 2 win following a 0 – 0 draw in the original tie. With plenty of experience in their squad, Ricketts and his players will have the know-how on how to progress through the FA Cup, and Weston will certainly face a stern test for this one.

Tickets for the game cost £12 adult, £8 concessions, £3 U16s and £20 for a family ticket (2 adults and up to 2 children). Tickets can be purchased in advance from the club bar, but a ticket office will be open on matchday for anyone unable to get tickets beforehand.
