SEAGULLS FACE TOP OF THE TABLE BRAINTREE

Weston make the journey this weekend to face Braintree Town, who currently sit top of the National League South with 34 points.

The Seagulls go into this encounter on a four-match unbeaten run in the league. Last weekend, Weston beat Eastbourne Borough 5 – 1 at the Woodspring, with Dayle Grubb having a hand in all five goals, getting two himself. The winger has recently been revealed to have scored the most league goals in 2017 inside the top six tiers within English football, not including penalties, and the 26 year-old will be hoping for more goals this week. It should also be noted that the Seagulls haven’t lost away in the league since 28th August, in a 2 – 1 loss to Truro City.

Recently relegated Braintree sit top of the table, on 34 points and three clear of Dartford. In their last game, the Iron beat Poole Town away 3 – 0 and with only three losses to their name all season, one coming at home, Braintree will be looking to keep their status at the top.

Marc McGregor commented ahead of the fixture, “We’re in good form ahead of the trip but know it will be a tough game. Braintree are at the top of the league for a reason, they’ve been playing good football, and it’s up to us to upset their applecart.

“As I’ve said before, I believe that we are capable of beating any team in the league on our day, but the lads have to work hard, maintain their composure and concentrate on the task in hand if they want to bring home three points.”
