SEAGULLS HEAD TO SWANS IN FINAL AWAY FRIENDLY
Weston embark on their final away pre-season fixture as they visit Slimbridge this Tuesday, July 26th, in a 7:45pm kick-off.
The Swans play their football in the Southern League Division One South, one league below Weston. The Seagulls have won all three of their away pre-season friendlies, but Slimbridge are likely to provide the toughest test on the road so far.
Last Tuesday night, Slimbridge gained an encouraging 0-0 draw with Yate Town, who, of course, finished just behind The Seagulls last season.
Three nights later, they hosted Brimscombe & Thrupp and beat their neighbours 3-0, after goals from Edji Mbunga, Ethan Dunbar and Ben McLean.
Ex-Weston player Brandon Barnes has been in the squad for both games and could feature against his old side.
Another player likely to line up against their former side at Thornhill Park is Jack Holmes, whose form in pre-season for Weston has been very pleasing to see.
There have been quite a few pre-season friendlies between Slimbridge and Weston at Thornhill Park in the last few seasons, but the last meeting was in a competitive fixture at the Optima Stadium in November 2021.
On that night, goals from Lucas Vowles, Prince Henry and Lloyd Humphries were enough to see off The Swans in the early rounds of the Southern League Challenge Cup.
