SEAGULLS HOST BLUEBELLS IN LATEST HOME LEAGUE CLASH

Just over 72 hours since our last home game, Weston are back at The Optima again as we entertain our near-neighbours, Yate Town. The game kicks off at 7:45pm this Tuesday, August 16^th.

Following their impressive 1-0 win at Hendon on the opening day, The Bluebells fell to their first defeat of the season after their 3-2 defeat at home to Hanwell Town.

Yate, under the stewardship of Paul Michael, finished seventh in the Southern League last season and therefore narrowly missed out on the play-offs. During the course of the previous campaign, Michael’s side took four points off Weston after a 2-1 victory here last October before a 1-1 draw in South Gloucestershire in February.

However, much has changed at Lodge Road this summer as Michael took over as boss at Merthyr. Ex-Bristol Rovers and Bristol City striker Peter Beadle has taken over the Yate hotseat after previously managing Newport and Hereford, amongst others.

Yate also lost the services of top scorer James Harding but there will be a familiar face in The Bluebells’ squad as Yate have signed former Weston player Prince Henry on loan from Bristol City. Henry made 17 appearances overall for The Seagulls last season, scoring six goals and assisting with three. Henry has already opened his account for the season with a consolation goal in that defeat to Hanwell.

Weston will be looking to make it successive wins here at The Optima, following their fine 3-0 victory over Gosport Borough on Saturday.

TURNSTILES:

We will be operating two turnstiles at our main turnstile block next to the club shop.

Turnstile 1, on the left, will operate on a cash only basis.

Turnstile 2, on the right, will operate on a card only basis.

It helps with congestion and access to the ground if you queue at the correct turnstile.

Please note the entrance for Walking Football & Junior Academy members is now via the main turnstiles. Those eligible members will be admitted entrance as per your team agreement. Junior Academy Parents, you will need to be with the Junior Academy Member at the time of entering.

WESTON-SUPER-MARE AFC SEASON TICKET HOLDERS:

Your entrance using your Season Ticket Card will be via the players’ and officials’ entrance.

CAR PARK:

Our Supporters’ Car Park charges £2.00 to park on a match day. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept card payment for this. So please ensure you have £2.00 available to pay on arrival.

For Season Ticket holders, early arrival is recommended. Your car park will still be for your exclusive use, when full you will be given free parking in the Supporters’ Car Park, where possible instead.

FACILITIES WITHIN GROUND:

Please note, our Sportsman Bar will close 90 minutes before kick-off, at which time the turnstiles will be open and access can be made into the ground.

Our Somerset Suite Bar, Kitchen and inside ground Joe’s Bar will all be open. Card payment can be made at all three locations.

CLUB SHOP:

The club shop within The Optima Stadium will be open for all Weston-super-Mare AFC first team games.
