SEAGULLS HOST SEED GROWERS IN CUP CLASH

This Saturday, Weston welcome Isthmian League North Division side Coggeshall Town for a Third Qualifying Round clash in the FA Cup, with the First Round Proper just two wins away.

Turning their attentions away from the league, where Weston currently lie bottom of the National League South table, the Seagulls will be without striker Brad Ash, but welcome back No.1 shot stopper Luke Purnell from suspension after he was sent off in the last round against Salisbury FC.

Coggeshall Town are already out of the FA Trophy following defeat to Witham Town, but are going strong in the FA Cup (their first season in the competition) after knocking out Witham, Berkhamsted and Walton Casuals. The Seed Growers could be without Nnamdi Nwachuku and Josh Pollard, who are major injury doubts, while Luke Wilson is absent and Michael Gyasi is definitely out with a broken elbow. The visitors on Saturday are co-owned by famous singer Olly Murs, and are managed by fellow co-owner Graeme Smith.

About the game, Marc McGregor commented:

“As a club, we deserved a bit of luck to get through to the next round and play Coggeshall. We’re glad we have a home tie however they are a good side and we are expecting a tough game but that’s the FA Cup and why we all love it, dreamed about playing in it and winning it!”
