SEAGULLS KICK OFF PRE-SEASON FIXTURES AGAINST BRISTOL ROVERS – MATCH PREVIEW

This week sees Marc McGregor take charge of his first Weston game when the Seagulls welcome Bristol Rovers to the Woodspring Stadium, in the first of the pre-season fixtures.

With everybody training hard, both Weston players and trialists alike will be looking to cement themselves within Macca’s plans going into the friendlies after the summer break. With places up for grabs, the Seagull supporters should be looking forward to seeing some entertaining football on stage during these encounters.

It has been rumoured that Bristol Rovers will be bringing a strong squad to the Woodspring, with Rollin Menayese potentially returning and getting a run-out as part of Darrell Clarke’s squad. Rovers players will be looking to be included themselves in Clarke’s plans for the upcoming season and so will be aiming to impress.

These two sides met at The Woodspring last summer, with Bristol Rovers winning 3-1. Rory Gaffney glanced home a header from a free-kick, before Jermaine Easter slotted home a penalty. Weston trialist Eliot Richards, who was later signed and then moved on to Merthyr Tydfil, slotted home on the volley before former Weston loanee Jamie Lucas sealed the win for Rovers just after half-time.
