SEAGULLS START 2019 WITH TRIP TO GLOUCESTER
On New Years Day, Weston make the journey to the home of Evesham United, where they will face National League South relegation rivals Gloucester City.
Weston still sit bottom of the table after a 0 – 2 loss against Bath City on Saturday, and are in danger of being cut adrift by the other sides if the Seagulls don’t get three points against the Tigers. The game against Gloucester has been described by Marc McGregor as the first of 19 cup finals left this season in order for the Seagulls to survive. Centre-back Jason Pope is a doubt for the game after going off injured against Bath.
Gloucester City are the team that the three bottom sides are all trying to catch, with the bottom four all now looking like a mini-league and only one being able to survive. On Saturday, Gloucester lost against Torquay United 2 – 1, with an Odin Bailey goal late on pulling one back for the visitors.
In the reverse fixture on Boxing Day, Weston played out their first 0 – 0 draw in two years by being held by the Tigers at the Woodspring. Weston failed to really test City keeper Jojo Wollacott until the 81st minute when a Nurse free-kick was tipped over the bar, and Odin Bailey hit the post for the visitors late on.
The game kicks off at the Spiers & Hartwell Jubilee Stadium at 15:00 on Tuesday 1st January 2019. Ticket prices for the game are: £13 adults, £7 concessions, 13-17 year olds £7 and U12s go free.
