SEAGULLS U18s V EXETER CITY U18s – MATCH SUMMARY

Despite the 4-1 scoreline Weston-super-Mare AFC U18s put in an encouraging performance in Saturdays defeat away to Exeter City. Travelling with a team made up of a mix from the Seagulls U16s and U18s teams they faced stiff opposition from determined opponents, with the U18s Seagulls consolation goal being scored by Jamie Irwin.

WsM Football Development Director Jon Haile summarised the match, “This was a real test for our players against a team who play for, in my opinion, the best Academy in the South-West. Their shape and movement was excellent and there was some real talent on show. It was a privilege to play on their new 3G facility and we are grateful for them hosting us. I saw some pleasing things from our players who worked  hard to compete against a well coached team who constantly asked questions with their attacking play. We caused them problems at times and our lads showed they are more than capable by also playing some good football. ”
