SEAGULLS VISIT THE SWAGS IN OPENING FRIENDLY

Weston play their first pre-season friendly ahead of the 2023/24 season as they make their first ever visit to Nailsea & Tickenham this Saturday, July 1st. The game at Fryth Way kicks off at 3pm.

Nailsea & Tickenham were formed as recently as 2015 following a merger between Nailsea Town and Tickenham United. The new club have made excellent progress in the last few years, as two successive promotions has earned our North Somerset neighbours a place in the Western League Premier Division.

The Swags finished runners-up to Brislington in Western League Division One in 2022/23, but Brislington were not allowed to gain promotion after they volunteered themselves for relegation the previous season, meaning Nailsea & Tickenham went up automatically.

Weston, of course, were also promoted after a thrilling season saw them crowned champions of the Southern League Premier South.

Last season’s first-team squad are all likely to get minutes under their belt at Nailsea, as well as some of the club’s youngsters who have also shown tremendous form. New signing Jamie Soule is also expected to pull on a Weston shirt for the first time.

With both sets of players about to embark on a journey into a new division, they will be looking to build up match fitness and momentum ahead of exciting new seasons for both clubs.
