SEAGULLS WELCOME BLUEBIRDS
In the final game of February, Chippenham are the visitors to the Optima (Woodspring) stadium as Weston look to get back to winning ways in the league.
Despite having only won once at home in the league all season, results have slowly picked up slightly despite a 2 – 1 loss away at Woking last Saturday. On Tuesday, Weston progressed into the Somerset Premier Cup semi-finals with a 4 – 2 win over Chard Town. Marc McGregor has a full squad to choose from, with Jarrad Welch and Jason Pope returning to action after injury in the past two games.
Chippenham are currently 11th in the league, and have suffered indifferent form recently. Last time out, they beat Hungerford 3 – 1 with a Nat Jarvis brace and a Nick McCootie strike late on into second half added time securing the three points. Jarvis is currently the fifth top scorer in the league with 15 goals. Within Chippenham’s ranks, they include former Seagulls George Rigg and Jack Compton.
Last time these sides met was back in December, the Seagulls winning 1 – 3 at Hardenhuish Park. A Marlon Jackson header broke the deadlock, before Naby Diallo fired into the top corner to double Weston’s advantage. Jarvis slid in to pull one back for Chippenham, before Diallo received his marching orders in the second half. Gethyn Hill secured the three points though by glancing in a George Nurse free-kick.
The game kicks off at the Optima (Woodspring) stadium, at 3:00pm on Saturday 23rd February. Tickets for the game are as follows: £12 adults, £8 concessions, £3 U16s and U8s go free. Family tickets cost £20 (2 adults and 2 children).
