SEAGULLS WELCOME STONES TO THE SEASIDE

This Saturday, Wealdstone are the visitors to the Woodspring with both sides looking to keep up their recent good form in the National League South.

Since the turn of the year, Weston have lost one in five competitive fixtures, and are unbeaten in their last three league games as the Seagulls have closed the gap to the three sides above them to three points. Jason Pope and Jarrad Welch both returned to action following injury in a mid-season friendly against Street on Tuesday evening, while Weston are boosted by the news that George Nurse, Tom Harrison and Aaron Parsons are staying for the rest of the season, on loan from Bristol City.

Wealdstone are on a good run themselves, now sat two points outside the Playoffs after a little blip over the festive period. Bobby Wilkinson’s men are currently unbeaten in their last six National League South games, including having won their last three games against Hungerford, Woking and Truro.

The two sides last met on the opening day at Grosvenor Vale, where the Seagulls lost 4 – 1. Joe White opened the scoring two minutes into the tie, before David Pratt fired in. Weston reduced the deficit when Eli Phipps volleyed in a Naby Diallo cross, but Bradley Hudson-Odoi soon got in on the goalscoring act by finding the net from range. Late on in the tie, Pratt finished calmly to round off an opening day victory for the Stones on a hot August afternoon.
