SEAGULLS YOUTH TEAM PLAYERS CHOSEN TO PLAY AT COUNTY LEVEL
Five of Weston-super-Mare AFC’s U18s team have been selected by Somerset FA to represent the County. George Morris-Edwards, Cameron Sanford, Lucas Eliman, Connor Lidiard and Dominic Baresi will all feature on the teamsheet in the upcoming match against Gloucestershire on 25th February.
Football Development Director at the Woodspring, Jon Haile, commented “It’s great to see that 5 WsM Youth Team players have been named in the Somerset County Squad for the upcoming South West Championship match against Gloucestershire. It underlines the excellent work that Jake Mawford has been doing in terms of both recruitment and coaching. Jake is one of the most creative and innovative young coaches in the region and he will go a long way in the game if he wants to do so. I would like to wish to say very well done to the players who have been selected.”
U18s coach Jake Mawford added, “I am pleased to see so many of our players representing the County. George, Lucas, Dom & Cameron have all been in good form for us recently. Connor played in a few friendly games for us at the start of the season but has been unable to make sessions and matches of late due to his inability to drive. We have a gentleman’s agreement he will sign next season. What is interesting is the amount of quality we have aside of those been selected to represent SFA. I really hope we have something to show for our work at the end of the season in terms of trophies otherwise I haven’t done my job probably.”
