SOMERSET PREMIER CUP FINAL DETAILS CONFIRMED

We have been informed by the Somerset FA that the 2018-2019 Somerset Premier Cup Final with Taunton Town will be played at The Optima Stadium on Tuesday 30th July, KO 7:45pm.

The Seagulls’ found their route to a third consecutive Somerset Premier Cup final fairly comfortable, overcoming Hengrove Athletic 0-4 away in the second round, thanks to braces from Eli Phipps and Tom Llewellyn.

Progressing onto the quarter-finals, Weston faced more Western League opposition in Chard, beating them 4-2. A Tom Harrison brace, as well as sole strikes from Alex Byrne and Alex Bray, helped the Seagulls progress, before coming up against Paulton Rovers in the semi-finals.

Jarrad Welch found the net with a long-range strike before Paulton Rovers equalised with a penalty. George Nurse was then slid through to fire home, as Weston progressed onto the final.

In the first game of their SPC campaign, Taunton beat Wincanton Town 1-2 with a brace from Rocky Neal.

The Peacocks then defeated Welton Rovers 1-0 with a winner from young centre-back Luke Manley, to take them through to the final four.

Taunton then travelled to divisional rivals Frome Town on the same night that Weston got past Paulton, and also progressed with a 1-2 score. Taunton found themselves one down early on, before Lewis Hall struck an equaliser and Peacocks skipper Matt Wright nodded home to send Taunton through to a final with the Seagulls.

This fixture is an all-pay game:

  • Adults: £8.00
  • Concessions: £5.00
  • Under 16s: £2.00
  • Under 8s: Free
  • Family Ticket: £15.00

Club Director Richard Sloane said “We are pleased to host this match. Our squad will be largely formed by then and will be a perfect precursor to the season in the Evo-Stik Southern League which kicks off on 10th August.”

We hope to see many of you at The Optima Stadium for this cup final.
