SOULE SIGNS FOR THE SEAGULLS

Weston-super-Mare AFC are delighted to announce that striker Jamie Soule has signed for the club.

The former West Bromwich Albion youngster becomes our first summer signing after recently featuring for Alvechurch FC.

The 22-year-old has had experience in the professional game with the likes of Barrow AFC, Lincoln City and Cheltenham Town.

He has also featured for England at under-16 and under-17 levels.

On securing Jamie’s signature, Manager Scott Bartlett said:

Jamie has excellent pedigree and was sought after. We are delighted he has chosen us to help progress his career.

“He is a very talented player and a dedicated professional. He plays on the shoulder, is a willing runner and a very good finisher. He has two excellent players in Reuben and Marlon who I’m sure will complement each other.

“He comes to us very highly recommended from a character point of view and we are looking forward to welcoming him into our group”.

Upon signing, Jamie said:

I am really looking forward to kicking on from last season at a club with an excellent track record of improving players.

“I am hoping to provide plenty of goals and assists, and being around a solid group of lads who did excellently last season”.

About Jamie

Jamie joined the West Brom academy as an eight-year-old and progressed through the youth ranks, moving on into their under-18s during the summer of 2017 before penning his first professional contract in November of the same year.

In February 2020, he got his first taste of first-team football by joining National League Premier side Barrow AFC on a one-month loan, making two appearances and being an unused substitute twice.

In October 2020, Jamie then headed to League One side Lincoln City on a short-term loan deal. During his time with the Imps, he made two appearances and scored one goal while being an unused substitute five times.

In January 2022, the forward joined League One side Cheltenham Town on loan until the end of the season but was only an unused substitute seven times.

Jamie departed West Brom in the summer of 2022 upon the expiry of his contract, having made four appearances in the Papa John’s Trophy for their under-21s and being named as an unused substitute twice.

In January 2023, he made the move to Southern League Premier Division Central side Alvechurch FC. During his time with the club, he scored five goals and assisted two in 14 games, being an unused substitute five times.

The Cheltenham-born striker also has recognition on the international stage, making three appearances for England’s U16s and featuring twice for England’s U17s, while being an unused substitute once for the latter age group. During his time in the international set-up, he played alongside the likes of Marc Guehi, Oliver Skipp, Phil Foden, Jadon Sancho and Ryan Sessegnon while also being managed by Steve Cooper for the U17s.
