THE SEAGULLS FLY TO THE HOME OF THE HAWKS IN NATIONAL LEAGUE SOUTH

Weston are back on the road as they make the journey to Havant & Waterlooville this Saturday, 20th January. The match at Westleigh Park kicks off at 3pm.

Following last Saturday’s long trip to Gateshead in the FA Trophy, it is back to the bread and butter of Vanarama National League South action as The Seagulls look for their first three points of 2024, after starting the calendar year with two high-scoring draws in the league.

Facing Weston is a Havant side who are enjoying a resurgence after picking up some good results recently. The Hawks had endured a tough start to the season in a spell that saw both Jamie Collins and then Steve King lose their jobs. The Hampshire outfit are now co-managed on an interim basis by Ross Betteridge, Richard Pope and Cliff de Gordon, and, since their introduction, The Hawks have gained five wins from their last seven games and have moved off the bottom of the table. Their latest victory came last Saturday after their 2-1 win over FA Cup giant-killers Maidstone United on the 3G surface at Westleigh Park, with both of The Hawks’ goals coming from Ryan Seager.

The Seagulls will be looking to complete a league double over Saturday’s hosts after beating Havant 1-0 at the Optima on the first day of the season, as Rex Mannings set up Marlon Jackson to score the only goal of the game. That goal was the very first Vanarama National League South goal of the season, in what was a pleasing statistic to have recorded in your favour so soon after promotion.
