THE SEAGULLS LOOK TO DAMPEN THE TIGERS ROAR
Weston take on Gloucester City in Tuesday nights ‘West Country’ derby, the pairs first clash within the new National League South era, as both sides look to pick up their first win of the new season.
Weston have lost their opening three league fixtures, their latest loss coming to a strong St. Albans, with the game on Saturday finishing in a 3-1 defeat for the Seagulls.
Jake Reid and Dayle Grubb currently have a goal apiece, finding the net in the first and third league games respectively, and the team will be pleased that Tristan Plummer is set to return from his one-game suspension for Tuesday night’s game.
Gloucester are back in the Southern section of league football for the first time since 2009, when they were promoted from the Southern Premier League but moved into the North section of the Conference. The Tigers earned their first point of the season in a 2-2 draw at home to Wealdstone, but lost their opening games to Truro City and Chelmsford City.
The last times these two sides met in competitive league action was back in the 2002-03 Southern Premier, where a certain Marc McGregor scored one of the goals in a 3-2 win for the Seagulls, helping the current side he manages to the double over their opponents.
Ahead of the fixture, assistant coach Rob Boyd said, “We are looking forward to getting back in to action against Gloucester City. The team are looking to end the three game run we are currently on.”
