THE SEAGULLS TAKE ON THE ROMANS IN VANARAMA NATIONAL LEAGUE SOUTH ACTION
Weston play their first Somerset derby of the season as they make the short trip to Bath City this Tuesday, August 15th. The game at Twerton Park kicks off at 7:45pm.
It is a return to familiar territory for quite a few involved with the current Weston side as Scott Bartlett, Scott Rogers, Jason Pope, Opi Edwards, Rex Mannings and James Morton have all pulled on the stripes of Bath City at some stage of their playing career, while Danny Greenslade, Scott Wilson and Jerry Gill have all represented The Seagulls.
Gill, of course, is the Bath City manager and his Romans side have had a good start to the Vanarama National League South season. After a 3-3 draw at Dartford on the opening day, they then beat Maidstone Unired 3-0 at Twerton Park on Saturday after a brace from Jordan Thomas and a single goal from Tom Smith. Goalkeeper Ollie Wright also saved a penalty from Sol Wanjau-Smith, who was with Weston as a youngster.
The Seagulls have also had a solid start to the league season after their 1-0 wins against Havant & Waterlooville and Tonbridge Angels on Saturday. That win in Kent came courtesy of Jordan Bastin’s well-taken first-half finish and some heroic defending in the second-half.
Both teams will come into this game in confident mood, and a large crowd is expected under the Twerton Park floodlights for our first evening game of the season.
