THE SEAGULLS TAKE ON THE WHITE TIGERS IN FA CUP ACTION

Weston are back at the Optima Stadium as they host Truro City in the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round this Saturday, September 16th. The match kicks off at 3pm.

The Seagulls will be looking to progress into the Third Qualifying Round of the competition for the sixth season in a row, but the White Tigers will provide an extremely stern test this weekend.

Both Weston and Truro spent last season looking over each other’s shoulders as the two sides eventually won promotion out of the Southern League Premier South. Although The Seagulls came out on top of the league standings, City had the better of the previous league meeting after their 1-0 win here at the Optima in January, which followed a 0-0 draw at Bolitho Park just over a year ago.

Last Saturday, Truro picked up an impressive 3-1 victory at Havant & Waterlooville after goals from Ryan Law, Andrew Neal and Will Dean for manager Paul Wotton’s side. That win moved Truro up to ninth in the Vanarama National League South, just three points clear of Weston who drew 1-1 with Hampton & Richmond after Marlon Jackson’s fine second-half equaliser.

This is the first of two Saturdays where The Seagulls and the White Tigers will face each other, as Weston visit Bolitho Park on September 23rd for a league fixture. However, if this FA Cup match is level after 90 minutes an additional visit to Devon for a replay will be required beforehand.

After the excitement of recent FA Cup campaigns for Weston, as well as some dramatic games between the two sides in recent seasons, it promises to be an intriguing encounter between last year’s league champions and play-off winners.

TURNSTILES:

We will be operating four turnstiles.

Turnstiles 1 & 2 – located at our main turnstile block next to the club shop – card only.

Turnstile 3 – located on the opposite side of the ground by our 3G surface – cash only.

Turnstile 4 – located on the opposite side of the ground by our 3G surface – cash & card.

It helps with congestion and access to the ground if you queue at the correct turnstile.

As this is an ‘all pay game’ relevant admission prices will be required to be paid by all. Entrance can be via any turnstile.

CAR PARK:

Our Supporters Car Park charges £2.00 to park on a match day. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept card payment for this. So please ensure you have £2.00 available to pay on arrival.

For Season Ticket holders, early arrival is recommended, your car park will be for your exclusive use, when full you will be given free parking in the Supporters Car Park, where possible, instead.

FACILITIES WITHIN THE GROUND:

Please note our Sportsman Bar will close 90 minutes prior to kick-off, at which time the turnstiles will be open and access can be made into the ground.

Our Somerset Suite Bar, Kitchen and inside ground Joe’s Bar will all be open.

Card payment can be made at all three locations.
