THE SEAGULLS VISIT THE STONES IN NATIONAL LEAGUE SOUTH

Weston are back on the road as they visit Maidstone United in a Vanarama National League South clash this Saturday, 23rd March. The match at the Gallagher Stadium kicks off at 3pm.

The Seagulls head to Kent for a second consecutive Saturday, and will be looking to bounce back from last week’s 3-1 defeat at Welling United, despite the good performance.

Facing Weston is a Stones side who are currently sixth in the National League South table, having won their last two games in the league. Last Saturday, Maidstone won 2-0 at struggling Dartford in a Kent derby, just four days after a very impressive 2-0 victory at home to Chelmsford City.

Earlier in the campaign, Weston and Maidstone drew 1-1 at the Optima Stadium. Levi Amantchi, who has since departed for Bromley, gave The Stones a very early lead, but The Seagulls earned a point after Reuben Reid’s second-half penalty.

Maidstone have this season earned themselves national recognition for their incredible FA Cup exploits. After wins against Steyning Town, Winchester City, Torquay United, Chesham United, Barrow and Stevenage, they were handed a Fourth Round tie at Ipswich Town. Incredibly, Maidstone won by two goals to one at Portman Road live on terrestrial TV before eventual elimination at Coventry City.

Naturally, their wonderful cup run has won many admirers for manager George Elokobi and his side. It will be a tough test for Weston, however The Seagulls can be mindful of some excellent results and performances against some of those sides around the play-offs already this season.
