Weston head to Kent in Vanarama National League South this weekend as they visit Welling United this Saturday, 16th March. The match kicks off at 3pm.

The Seagulls make the journey to Park View Road looking to get back to winning ways after Tuesday night’s 2-0 defeat to St Albans City at the Optima Stadium, despite the good performance from the home side.

In Welling’s last game, The Wings produced arguably the shock of the season following a fantastic 1-0 win at leaders Yeovil Town. Nearly 100 Welling fans made the long journey to Huish Park, and they left Somerset on cloud nine after their famous victory to complete an unlikely double over The Glovers.

Those three points moved The Wings up to 19th in the National League South table and out of the relegation zone, and will give manager Rod Stringer and his side a great deal of confidence in staying up and staving off the threat of relegation to the Isthmian League.

Ex-Chelmsford boss Stringer took over from previous manager Danny Bloor in January. Bloor was in charge of Welling when The Wings visited North Somerset in early December. In an entertaining clash at a frosty Optima Stadium, Weston won by four goals to two after a Reuben Reid brace, a Will Wood own goal and James Morton’s final Seagulls goal before his move to Southend United. United striker Tristan Abrahams scored a brace for the visitors, but it was mere consolation.

If that entertaining game is anything to go by, another good game between The Wings and The Seagulls can be expected in Kent this weekend.
