TRIO EXTEND CONTRACTS

Weston-super-Mare AFC are delighted to confirm that Jordan Bastin, Jay Murray and Jason Pope have all agreed new contracts with the club.

The three players arrived at The Optima Stadium in the summer of 2021, and have all played significant roles in the Seagulls’ ascent to the top of the Southern League Premier South table.

Bastin joined the club from Tiverton Town, and has currently made 78 appearances for the club, with 10 goals and 22 assists following for the wideman.

Local player Murray signed from Clevedon Town later on in the summer of 2021, featuring 60 times so far for the Seagulls, chalking up one goal and six assists in impressive performances out wide.

Pope returned to the club from Bath City for a second permanent spell, and his performances across the defence have seen him add a further 60 appearances to his Weston tally of 163 games previously.

Manager Scott Bartlett said:

We always do our business early, I understand why clubs let contracts run down and reshape in the summer but we don’t do that, it’s just not our model.

“As a club, we are always looking ahead so it makes sense to renew some now to add to those already contracted for next season.”

You can watch the three players as well as their Weston team-mates in action at The Optima twice over the next week, with home games against Hendon on the 24th and Truro City visiting BS24 on the 28th.
